One of these jobs, while it may seem dangerous, is working with asbestos.
The Day of an Asbestos Consultant
Clients will call these consultants when they need surveys done to see if they have asbestos, to determine if the materials that contain asbestos will be damaged during any work on a building, and how to remove these materials safely. While working closely with clients to ensure that everybody working near the asbestos is safe, consultants will make recommendations and explain how to deal with the on-site asbestos safely.
Tests
There are a number of different tests that these consultants will perform. They have to monitor the air during asbestos removal to make sure that the area is safe as well as perform visual inspections to ensure that all of the asbestos has been properly removed and disposed of. In addition, people who have asbestos consultant jobs will have to provide evidence of the safety of the site before it is given back to the client.
Licensed Contractors
Asbestos consultants will work with licensed contractors during the removal of asbestos to make sure that the work is done according to the client’s wishes as well as performed safely with little risk to people or the surrounding area. While the licensed contractor has the staff and skill to remove the asbestos, it is up to the consultant to make sure that everything is done safely and that all of the asbestos is fully removed.
Office Work
While this career does require a lot of work outside of the office, there are still a number of reports to be filed that do necessitate office hours. Advances in software are cutting down on the amount of time that has to be spent in the office working on reports as they can now be completed on site. Not only does this mean that reports are finished in a more timely fashion but they are more accurate and can be completed as the work progresses.
Working as an asbestos consultant is lot more than simply checking work sites and filling out reports and forms about the presence of asbestos. People who consider this as their career path need to work well with others and be able to communicate their thoughts clearly verbally as well as in writing. This job is not without health concerns but if safety measures are followed, then they are greatly minimised.
