There are many link building methods that can use. Here is a list of link building methods based on their risk levels:
Writing unique and interesting content
It is the safest way to generate links for our website and proven to be the only long-term solution to ensure stable traffic and revenue. Some intriguing articles and video have gone viral, attracting millions of views. Eventually, people will write links in their website as they enthusiastically share our content with others. If we could continue delivering additional content, steady traffic is assured and more links will be awarded for our website. It is not only the safest link building method, but also the most advised by search engines. (Risk level: 0)
Inbound links from in-network websites
It is actually possible for website owners to create multiple websites on the same topic, if the industry is large enough. This will allow website owners to have a network of genuine websites. It is a permissible method, but search engines will start to get suspicious, if we have too many websites on the same topic. This could indicate an attempt to spam the niche with many websites. Also, writing quality content for multiple websites can be challenging, if we don’t have enough time and resources to do that. (Risk level: 1)
Signature in forums
This is a favoured way to generate plenty of links in a relatively short amount of time. Each time we write a new post, our signature and the associated link will be included. If we want to do this, we need to prove that we genuinely want to contribute to the community. We need to get noticed by members in the forum, especially in a good way. However, there’s a risk that we can’t maintain the quality of our post. We may write many one-line posts with little informational content as a way to generate as many links as possible. Google and search engines will get suspicious if we unnaturally obtain links in large quantity, very quickly (Risk level: 1)
Inbound links with redirect methods
This is a slightly riskier method and probably less useful. Users may think that they will go to a page in the same website to get specific information, but they could be brought to a different website using redirect method. However, we should know that search engine bots don’t follow redirected links and they deal only with direct links. This method can be seen as a way to mislead readers and search engines may not award us for a redirected link that uses JavaScript or other scripts. (Risk level: 2)
Inbound links from new, low PR websites
New, low PR websites still have no reputation in the industry and they need to prove themselves by providing enough contribution. Gaining links from these websites is easier to do and it is a good idea to avoid obtaining too many. (Risk level: 2)
